Elizabeth Opila's approach has been to follow near-term opportunities. This approach has led her to obtain BS, MS, and PhD degrees at three different institutions; to positions in industry, at a NASA research center, and in academia; and to work that explores porous materials, semiconductor packaging, superconducting materials, and structural materials for extreme environments. Despite this variety, common themes persist and will be highlighted.
