Curricular Innovations and Continuous Improvement of Academic Programs

Time: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST

This session will provide opportunities for programs to share innovative approaches in curricular development and effective pedagogical approaches in the broad materials science and engineering field covering all classes of materials. We will explore how these approaches lead to enhanced student outcomes and continuous improvement of the program, and we highlight how these advances can be used to satisfy EAC/ABET criteria. Discussions on current EAC/ABET criteria (and changes) and preparation for reaccreditation visits will be included in this session.

Broadening Participation in the Materials Science and Engineering Profession Town Hall

Time: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. EST

This live, virtual town hall format with expert speakers and panelists will explore the topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion in Materials Science and Engineering, while identifying strategies and opportunities to improve diversity and inclusion in our profession. Why does diversity matter? How are we doing as a profession? How can I promote inclusivity? Speakers and panelists will focus on these and other issues, and participants may submit questions, address concerns, discuss actions at their own institutions, and present suggestions they may have for their Society.
